Stock Market Game

To teach students about the stock market, economics and finance, the GSA volunteers its expertise and funding to the Georgia Stock Market Game. Each semester approximately 4,000 teams - more than 20,000 students from over half of Georgia's schools-compete. Students may play the Stock Market Game twice each year, during the fall and spring. For 10 weeks, students invest a hypothetical $100,000 in common stocks on the New York and American Stock Exchanges and the Nasdaq Stock Market. In a typical classroom, students form teams of three to five players and work together to research their stock selections. Teams submit their transactions and receive weekly portfolios highlighting their current holdings, brokerage commissions, margin fees, and team ranking. The GSA is the largest single supporter of the Stock Market Game.
