GSA
Mission
Educate
Membership
The
key to any thriving industry is the ability to stay current and
move ahead. GSA, with their status as an affiliate of Security
Traders Association (STA), can give insightful information about
key industry issues. Examples would be:
-
Mark structure issues
-
Providing expert seminars on compliance and regulatory matters.
-
Introduce membership to key industry people such as NASD, Nasdaq,
NYSE, and SEC personnel.

Lobby on Behalf of Membership
The
GSA has the unique ability to lobby for its membership on both a
local and national level. The GSA is an affiliate of the Security Traders Association (STA). The STA has offices in both New York
and Washington. Williams and Jenson, a Washington lobbying firm,
is on retainer for STA and is constantly working on national industry
issues for our membership. The fight to reduce 31A SEC files is
one example of the work they do for us.

Give
Back to Community
The
GSA is a generous organization. Through the RSBG and AAWS, this
organization contributes in many ways. The RSBG holds annual events
to benefit charities. The GSA provides scholarships annually to
needy recipients whose families are involved in our industry. The
AAWS hosts educational meetings and participates in charitable events.

Communicate
Important Issues to the Membership
One
key benefit to the membership is the ability to receive information
concerning key issues that affect our industry. The GSA, through
its web page and e-mailings, can distribute information on a timely
basis. This information can be local or from the national office
of the STA. The (STA)
has many committees that provide insight into key issues. The trading
issues committee has been key in providing important insight into
market structure, Nasdaq structure, and other key areas.

Provide
Opportunities to Network with Colleagues
The
GSA has several annual events that provide networking opportunities
for its members. Members in varying roles in our industry can meet
and see if those are opportunities to work together. The GSA is
the only organization capable of putting such diverse groups together.
